Some of my favorite reads

Pete the Cat: I Love My White ShoesIt was really hard to narrow it down to one choice, so I chose my top three that I like sharing in my classroom and at home with my son. The first choice would be "Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes" by Eric Litwin. This book is my son's favorite. I love the repetition in the story and how Pete never let's what happens to him effect his behavior. He just keeps on going and teaches great resiliency and colors, as well.

The Grouchy LadybugAnother book I enjoy reading is "The Grouchy Ladybug" by Eric Carle. It's a great story about being kind to our friends.

The Kissing Hand Another favorite read for me in the classroom is "The Kissing Hand" by Audrey Penn. This is a book that's very good to read during the first weeks of school. It helps my student's connect their personal feelings about coming to school and what there feelings are later in the school year. Also there are some creative center activities that would be great for all my choices.

  1. I liked your favorite books. Eric Carle is a wonderful and one of my favorite authors. "The Kissing Hand" is fabulous for the first weeks of school especially for those children having separation anxiety. I also like "The Kissing Box." I read it to my 3 y/o around Valentine's Day. I found small shoe boxes and let them create their own kissing box for their families. Everyone enjoyed it!

  2. Eric Carle is a great author and he's one of my favorites too. I want to read "The Kissing Box." I have never heard of it before and love the idea of the kids making their own kissing box for Valentines. Thanks for sharing.
