I chose this quote because it closely relates to how I feel about early childhood education.
In the video interview, "The Passion for Early Childhood, "Louis Derman-Sparks says,"Early childhood education gave me the passion to make sure children are taught in environments and in ways that truly nourish their ability to grow and develop to their fullest ability"(Laureate Education, Inc. 2013).
It seems that Louis Derman-Sparks impacted us with her revelation of what gives her passion. If you don't have passion for what you do then this is not the job for you. Being a teacher is not going to a building from 7 to 5 or so on and then come home, you sometimes carry your job with you, you think about a child that was sad and you wonder if you helped him enough.
ReplyDeleteThis quote is very inspirational and very true. Children learn from so many different sectors and it is important that all of the sectors are nourished.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you both. You truly have to have a passion. Teaching is a remarkable, emotional experience.
